Detail of Posts:

The examination aims to fill up various posts in esteemed organizations such as Border Road Organization (BRO), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Central Water and Power Research Station, Central Water Commission, Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval), Farakka Barrage Project, Military Engineer Services (MES), and National Technical Research Organization (NTRO). These posts include Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), and Junior Engineer (Mechanical).


Vacancies: 1324 Positions Available

The SSC has released a staggering total of 1324 vacancies to be filled through this Junior Engineer Examination. These vacancies are distributed among the different Ministries, Departments, and Organizations. Reservation and Suitability for Persons with Disabilities (PwD):

Junior Engineer being a Group 'B' post, there is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) category. However, ESM candidates are eligible for age relaxation as per the extant government orders.


Posts in organizations except for BRO have been identified suitable for persons with disabilities with a degree of 40% and above, including disabilities like One Arm affected (OA), One Leg affected (OL), and Hearing Handicapped (HH). However, these posts are not identified as suitable for VH (Visually Handicapped) persons. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 has introduced new categories of disabilities eligible for reservation, and candidates with such disabilities are encouraged to apply, provided the vacancies for these categories are reported by the concerned Ministries/Departments.


Nationality/Citizenship:

To apply for this examination, a candidate must be either:

  •  A citizen of India, or
  •  A subject of Nepal, or
  •  A subject of Bhutan, or
  •  A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  •  A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


Candidates belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) above must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.


 Age Limit:

The age limit for various posts of Junior Engineers varies depending on the organization. Candidates must check the detailed advertisement for specific age criteria. However, age relaxations are provided for candidates belonging to certain categories, including SC/ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, and more, as per the extant government rules.


Essential Educational Qualifications/Experience:
