GNM stands for General Nursing and Midwifery.

What is GNM course?

Nursing is very important part of helth care organization. There are several nursing courses available and GNM is of them. In the GNM nursing course you will get learn about taking care of patient and maternity care. The duration of course is 3 year and 6 month internship. In 3 year you will learn about the theory subjects including practical. The last 6 month of course is internship where you will get the field experiences. The 6 month internship is compulsory. After GNM course student can go for the higher study in nursing and specialization in nursing field.

Eligibility for GNM course:

Some of the eligibility criteria given blow for GNM course.

  • You must have complete your 10+2 in science stream having subjects Physic, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Age limit : Minimum age required 17 year and maximum 35 year. 
  • you must have 45% of mark in 10+2. (40% for SC, ST and OBC)

Admission producer for GNM course:

Most of the institute select their candidates through their entrance test. The entrance test done by the individual institute. Some of the institute select there candidates through mark basic in 10+2 and allow for direct admission.

Course fee of GNM:

The course fee averagely Rs 45000 to Rs 50000 annually. In some of the institute the course fee is above Rs 1,20,000. There is no fix course fee for this course. The course fee is depends upon the institute you will take admission. The Maximum course fee is Rs135000 and minimum is Rs 20000. Hope you  will get idea about the admission fee.

What is the qualification for GNM course?

ANS: You must have complete 10+2 in science stream and having subjects Physic, Chemistry and Biology.

Which is better GNM or BSC nursing?

ANS: B.Sc nursing is better than GNM. After B.Sc nursing you can go for teaching field in nursing But after GNM you can only go for clinical field. The course duration of B.Sc nursing is 4 years where GNM is 3 year and 6 month.

Can I do MBBS after GNM?

ANS: Yes, you can definitely do MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) after completing GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course.
